McCauley got her professional start singing country music at the age of 7—as Megan Ashley—performing at county fairs in Ohio, releasing albums, even recording a duet with "The Voice" of country music, legend

Wind-up Records and in 2004 they included one of her songs on the "Elektra" soundtrack and two others on the "Fantastic Four" soundtrack. Also that year, she released a self-titled EP.In 2006, a single was released, "Tap That", and the following year, an album, "Better Than Blood". "Better Than Blood" is composed of five previously-released songs plus six others.
McCauley is currently in the process of writing her sophomore album. Megan has had issues with her parents, which have since been the inspiration for a handful of her songs, including "I'll Pay You to Shoot Him" written about an experience she had when her parents got into a physical fight and she tried to intervine, but her father hit her. When the police arrived she screamed at an officer "I'll pay you to shoot him."
She appeared with her mother on the Dr. Phil show, claiming her mother to be ruining her life.
