Jumada al-thani

) is the sixth month in the Islamic Calendar.

It is also known as Jumaada-ul-Akhir and Jumada-l-Akhra.

This is the sixth month of the islamic calendar. The origin of the word is as follows: the word Jumda, from which the name of the month is derived, is used to denote dry parched land: land devoid of rain, and hence denote the dry months

Timing

The Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar, and months begin when the first crescent of a new moon is sighted. Since the Islamic lunar calendar year is 11 to 12 days shorter than the solar year, Jumada al-Thani migrates throughout the seasons. The estimated start and end dates for Jumada al-Thani are as follows (all future dates are estimates):

* 1426 AH – First day: July 8, 2005; last day: August 5, 2005
* 1427 AH – First day: June 28, 2006; last day: July 26, 2006
* 1428 AH – First day: June 17, 2007; last day: July 15, 2007
* 1429 AH – First day: June 6, 2008; last day: July 4, 2008
