Adanaspor is the football team in Adana, one of the biggest cities in Turkey. The club was founded in 1954 and the first colours were navy and yellow. The club converted their colours to orange and white in 1966. Orange representing citrus and white representing cotton. Adana is known for its agricultural wealth. Adanaspor played 21 seasons at Turkcell Super League and the greatest success was 2nd in 1980-81 season. Adanaspor promoted from First Group of Third League to Second League after a 0-0 draw at Mersin Büyükşehir Belediyespor (formerly and present name of Mezitlispor) away match in 2006-2007 season as 2nd.In 2007-2008 season, the team managed to capture the first position in Group 5 of Turkish 2nd League. The team finished first in Prmotion Group after a 4-2 at Pendikspor home match and promoted to Bank Asya 1. League. Shortly 3 successively relegations followed 2 successively promotions since 2003.

- The founders are Mehmet Şanlıtürk, Mustafa Bekbaş, Erol Erk, Ali Gedikbaş, Mehmet Resit Teksin and Dr. Muzaffer Eraslan.

- In 1966, Akınspor and Torosspor clubs joined Adanaspor towards being a professional club. After the merge, Adanaspor joined the professional league.

- Some of the founders of the professional club are Mehmet Eroğlu, Mustafa Bekbaş, Ali Gedikbaş, Ahmet Kavrakoğlu, Musa Çaldağ, Nevzat Ağaoğlu, Cumali Aslankeser, Selim Zeper and İsmail Kaplakaslan.
