It has around 1700 students. There are no 11-18 schools in Bury with the exception of Grammer Schools/ Fee paying schools. Those wishing to study after 16 go to Holy Cross or
Bury College .History
It was formed in 1979 as a sixth form college with about 201 students. Previous to that it was a grammar school for girls, which had been a private school formed in 1878 by the
Daughters of the Cross .Academic performance
