Area code 649

Area code 649

Area code 649 (Written in NANP notation "(649)") is the local telephone area code of the Turks and Caicos Islands. The 649 area code was created during a split from the original 809 area code, which was done in or around May, 1997.

When in the Turks and Caicos Islands, one uses the seven digits alone. When calling to the Turks and Caicos Islands from within the North American Numbering Plan (the United States and Canada), the number is dialed the same as any other long distance call with the 649 area code being used (1 649 xxx xxxx).
