August 1 ,1947 ) is currently the manager for thePeoria Padres , the rookie level team in theSan Diego Padres farm system. From 1997 until 2002, Muser served as the manager of theKansas City Royals . After being replaced byTony Pena , Muser spent four seasons as the bench coach for the San Diego Padres underBruce Bochy .Major League Baseball Career
Tony Muser spent parts of nine seasons in the Major Leagues with the
Boston Red Sox ,Chicago White Sox ,Baltimore Orioles , and theMilwaukee Brewers . He played mostly first base and was a very poor hitter, especially for a position that typically requires strong offensive performance.
