Tim Hartman

Tim Hartman (b 1965) is a practitioner of the Filipino martial art of Modern Arnis and Balintawak, and the president of the World Modern Arnis Alliance (WMAA). [http://www.wmarnis.com/resume.html]

In 2000 he tested for his 6th degree black belt at the Michigan summer camp, making him the highest tested rank in the U.S. under Remy Presas, [http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://modernarnis.com] founder of Modern Arnis. He was granted the title "Datu", or chieftain, by Presas shortly thereafter. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modern_Arnis#History]

Hartman is active on the seminar circuit, regularly giving seminars and camps across North America and Europe. [http://www.wmarnis.com/wmaaevents.html] In June 2005, Hartman was promoted to 9th degree by the WMAA Advisory Board. Datu Tim Hartman is also still a competitor in such curcuits as Nafma, where he hold state, national, and even a world title. His most recognized success in tournament fighting is in stick fighting, where competitors compete against one another in a form of sparring using two padded sticks to score points. He is also a notable practitionaer in kata, specifically Filipeno kata, which is the event he currently holds the world title for.

On April 23, 2007 Datu Hartman was promoted to 9th degree in Kombatan and awarded the Grandmaster title by Great Grandmaster Ernesto Presas while visiting the Philippines.

A teacher, coach, Datu and leader Tim Hartman currently resides in West Seneca NY, and teaches out of Horizon Martial Arts, the school he founded, and continues to draw respect and attention from all of the martial art world.
