Tim Hartman (b 1965) is a practitioner of the
Filipino martial art ofModern Arnis andBalintawak , and the president of theWorld Modern Arnis Alliance (WMAA). [http://www.wmarnis.com/resume.html]In 2000 he tested for his 6th degree black belt at the
Michigan summer camp, making him the highest tested rank in the U.S. underRemy Presas , [http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://modernarnis.com] founder ofModern Arnis . He was granted the title "Datu ", or chieftain, by Presas shortly thereafter. Nafma , where he hold state, national, and even a world title. His most recognized success in tournament fighting is instick fighting , where competitors compete against one another in a form ofsparring using two padded sticks to score points. He is also a notable practitionaer inkata , specifically Filipeno kata, which is the event he currently holds the world title for.On April 23, 2007 Datu Hartman was promoted to 9th degree in
Kombatan and awarded the Grandmaster title by Great GrandmasterErnesto Presas while visiting thePhilippines .A teacher, coach, Datu and leader
Tim Hartman currently resides in West Seneca NY, and teaches out of Horizon Martial Arts, the school he founded, and continues to draw respect and attention from all of the martial art world.ources
