Gordey Ivanovich Levchenko (Russian: Гордей Иванович Левченко,
February 1 ,1897 , Dubrovka,Ukraine - 1981) was a Soviet naval commander and admiral from 1944. Participated inWorld War I and in the assault of theWinter Palace , commanded the cruiser "Aurora". Commander of theCaspian Flotilla in 1932 - 1933 and a twice commander of theBaltic Fleet . Deputy of thePeople's Commissar of the navy from 1939. Participated in battles ofOdessa ,Nikolayev andSevastopol duringWorld War II . Resigned in September of 1960. Awarded a 1st classOrder of Ushakov and some other medals and orders. TheUdaloy class destroyer "Admiral Levchenko" is named after him.
