Vancouver Canucks in the1990 NHL Entry Draft .Playing career
He played parts of three seasons with the Canucks, before being traded to the
Edmonton Oilers forRoman Oksiuta , where he played for parts of two seasons. Spent the 1996–97 season playing inEurope . Returned to the NHL where he had been traded to thePittsburgh Penguins for a 3rd round draft pick and played three and a half seasons there. In January 2001, he was traded to theAtlanta Thrashers for a 3rd round draft pick. Atlanta traded Šlégr to theDetroit Red Wings forYuri Butsayev and a 3rd round draft pick in March 2002. He signed as a free agent with Vancouver in September 2003, but after falling out of favor withVancouver Canucks coachMarc Crawford , was traded to theBoston Bruins in January, 2004 for a conditional pick. Šlégr spent the2004–05 NHL lockout season with HC Litvínov in theCzech Republic before returning to theBoston Bruins for the 2005–06 season. He is currently playing with HC Litvínov and since March 2007 for the playoff with the Swiss TeamEHC Biel .Šlégr won a gold medal in the 2005 World Championships and 1998 Olympics for the
Czech Republic , and a Bronze Medal in the 1992 Olympics forCzechoslovakia . He also won aStanley Cup with theDetroit Red Wings in 2002.
