Tad Danielewski (
March 29 ,1921 –January 6 ,1993 ) was a film director. Originally fromPoland , he served in the Polish Underground duringWorld War II and eventually ended up in aconcentration camp . After the war, he studied at theRoyal Academy of Dramatic Arts inLondon and started theProfessional Actors Workshop inNew York , whose students included Martin Sheen, James Earl Jones, and Mercedes Ruehl, who thanked Danielewski in both her Oscar and Tony acceptance speeches.Fact|date=February 2007 He is the father of Ann Danielewski (commonly known as the musician Poe) andMark Z. Danielewski , author of "House of Leaves " and "Only Revolutions ".He died of cancer in 1993.
