Allan G. Bense (born October 6, 1951), a Republican, was the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives from 2004 to 2006. He was first elected to the House in 1998. He lives in Panama City, Florida and represents Florida's 6th District

Bense holds a BS and an MBA from Florida State University.

He is a member of the following Boards:
* Judicial Management Council ( appointed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court ).
* Chairman, Taxation and Budget Reform Commission ( appointed by the Speaker of the House )
* Vice Chairman elect, Enterprise Florida, Inc. ( appointed by the Governor, the Honorary Chairman )
* Florida Chamber of Commerce
* Florida Council of 100 ( not a member of the Board )
* James Madison Institute

Bense is on the Board of various local charities and is Chairman of the Board of the Bense Family Foundation, which annually makes significant contritbutions to numerous state and local not- for - profit causes.

Bense is a stockholder and partner in several Northwest Florida Companies, with interests in Road Building, General Contracting, Mechanical Contracting, Farming, Insurance, Golf Courses, and more.

During the 2006 election cycle, Bense was often mentioned by party leaders such as Gov. Jeb Bush as a possible primary challenger to Rep. Katherine Harris for the Republican nomination to challenge incumbent Democratic U.S. Senator Bill Nelson. Bense declined to run in the primary in May 2006.

Bense married his wife Tonie Johnson Bense in 1975 and they have three children, Courtney Weatherford, Jason Bense, and Taylor Bense. Courtney's husband, Will W. Weatherford, is a member of the Florida House of Representatives. Jason Bense is moving up the ranks in Bense's Road Building Company, and Taylor Bense is a Junior at the distinguished Berklee College of Music in Boston, Mas.
