the name of the Tuktoyaktuk Airport is James Gruben Airport. Named after a local bush pilot/ business man who was killed on the ice road from inuvik to tuk on april 13, 2001. He was the owner of the only Inuvialuit owned transportation company which was passed down to him from his father Eddie Gruben. the name of the company is E. Gruben's Trasport Ltd. and is still in business to this day. James was a well respected and successful business man and also a very knowledgeable bush pilot with a warm and giving heart.
