United States House of Representatives elections, 1808

The U.S. House election, 1808 was an election for the United States House of Representatives in 1808.

Although Democratic-Republicans maintained control of the presidency (under James Madison) and Congress, Federalists made gains in the House, mainly due to the unpopularity of the Embargo Act of 1807. As a result, voters in New England, who had ties to the shipping industry, overwhelmingly chose to send Federalists to Washington.
