Boys' High School & College, Allahabad

Boys' High School & College, is an independent school in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. It was founded in 1861 for the purpose of providing a Christian education to the children of Europeans and Anglo-Indians, but has always accepted children from all backgrounds. Though originally co-educational, it now admits only boys. It has existed on its present site in central Allahabad since 1861. Since 1940 it has been managed by the Allahabad High School Society.

Educational Achievements

* A student of BHS, Udbhav Kumar Singh won a gold medal in the 2005 International Astronomy Olympiads.He also went on to qualify the prestigious Indian National Mathematical Olympiad.
* The school has a well-equipped computer lab and provides compulsory computer education till class VIII and as an optional subject till class XII.
* BHS has introduced a new subject, Environmental Studies, for generating an awareness about ecology and the threats posed to it as well means to minimise these.
* There are plans to introduce the study of humanities in the college section. BHS will be the first institution to do so in the whole of eastern Uttar Pradesh.
