eastern Europe , on the site of the deserted Palestinian village ofAl-Mughar . Initially named Arugot ( _he. ערוגות), it was later renamed Ekron HaHadasha ( _he. עקרון החדשה, lit. "NewEkron ") and then to its current name after the agronomistYitzhak Elazari-Volcani , the founder of modernagriculture in Israel .Cite book
