**The AL leaves theNational Agreement and competes with theNational League as a second major league --we say in retrospect, knowing its success. The AL abandons four western cities for Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Boston and signs about 30 prominent NL players before the season.
**TheNational League violates itsNational Agreement in the summer and there will be no major-minor agreement until 1903.
