Tradeston

Tradeston

Tradeston is a district in the Scottish city of Glasgow. It is situated on the south bank of the River Clyde, approximately bounded by the Glasgow to Paisley railway line on the east and south and the Kingston Bridge and M8 motorway to its west.

As of 2005 the area is run down and consists of warehouses and similar businesses, some of which are set for demolition as part of the proposed M74 Extension. Some new flats have been built along the river bank and plans for a new footbridge costing £40M have been announced by the council. It will link Tradeston with Broomielaw and be designed by architect Sir Richard Rogers ( [http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/3222932.stm news report] ).

The singer Simon Bell was born in Tradeston in 1949.
