Angus John "Gus" Macdonald, Lord Macdonald of Tradeston, CBE, PC (born
20 August 1940 inLarkhall ,Scotland ), is a British Labour politician.He was educated at
Allan Glen's School , Glasgow. After careers as an engineer in the shipbuilding industry and in the media as a journalist onThe Scotsman and as the editor of theGranada TV current affairs programmeWorld in Action . He returned to Scotland in 1986 to become Director of Programmes forScottish Television becoming Managing Director in 1990. *Minister for Transport in theDepartment for Environment, Transport and the Regions , in attendance at cabinet (1999–2001)
*Minister for the Cabinet Office andChancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster (2001–03)He has been a member of the Select Committee on Economic Affairs, House of Lords since 2004 and is also Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Humanist Group and a member of the
