- OOV

OOV is a Dutch abbreviation for "Openbare Orde en Veiligheid", which translates as "Public Order and Safety"
This three-letter acronym refers to the combination of the Police force, Fire department and various (para)medical services (such as ambulance and SAR (Search and Rescue) services) that provide their services for the public order and safety.
The emergency telephone number in the Netherlands is 1-1-2.
OOV in text processing stands for 'out-of-vocabulary', i.e. a word that is not known in the computer's online dictionary. OOV words are often a problem for automatic spell checkers and voice recognition software.
OOV can also stand for 'out-of-vision', such as in film scripts when an actor is talking and is audible, but not visible in the shot [1].
In business, OOV is an acronym used most often in corporate email auto-reply messages and appointment calendars to indicate that the sender is Out On Vacation. Example: "I will be OOV from April 5–12. I will be unavailable by email, chat or phone."
