Central Carolina Community College is a tax supported, public non-profit school in the
North Carolina Community College System under the control of a local board of trustees. Chartered in 1958 by theNorth Carolina State Board of Education, it became a part of the North Carolina Department of Community Colleges, now known as the State Board of Community Colleges, in 1963. In addition to the two-year
Associate degree programs that lead to an Associate of Applied Science Degree, one-year programs that lead to adiploma , and the Associate in Arts and Associate in Science Degree programs that can lead to transfer to a four-yearcollege oruniversity , Central Carolina Community College also offers non-credit courses inadult basic education , adulthigh school and otheradult education courses in technical, vocational, academic and general interest areas. These courses do not count toward a degree ordiploma , but a certificate of completion is given andcontinuing education unit s are awarded.On the Chatham and
Harnett campuses, Associate in Applied Science Degrees, diplomas and certificates are offered in the curriculum programs. In addition to the college transfer A.A. and A.S. programs, these two campuses also offer non-credit courses in adult basic education, adult high school,vocational education and general interest for which a certificate of completion is given and continuing education units are awarded. Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center is a part of and is located on Central Carolina Community College's Lee County Campus. The facility is composed of:
* A large multi-purposeauditorium with a stage (which can be divided into four smaller meeting areas)
* A 200-fixed seat capacity auditorium with an elevated floor and a stage
* Four conference/classrooms. This facility is available for use by the College and the community, and it also houses the Small Business Assistance Center.Harnett County Campus
