Central Carolina Community College

Central Carolina Community College is a tax supported, public non-profit school in the North Carolina Community College System under the control of a local board of trustees. Chartered in 1958 by the North Carolina State Board of Education, it became a part of the North Carolina Department of Community Colleges, now known as the State Board of Community Colleges, in 1963. The first curriculum classes were held in September 17, 1962.The College has a main campus plus three branch campuses.

Curriculum and programs

In addition to the two-year Associate degree programs that lead to an Associate of Applied Science Degree, one-year programs that lead to a diploma, and the Associate in Arts and Associate in Science Degree programs that can lead to transfer to a four-year college or university, Central Carolina Community College also offers non-credit courses in adult basic education, adult high school and other adult education courses in technical, vocational, academic and general interest areas. These courses do not count toward a degree or diploma, but a certificate of completion is given and continuing education units are awarded.

On the Chatham and Harnett campuses, Associate in Applied Science Degrees, diplomas and certificates are offered in the curriculum programs. In addition to the college transfer A.A. and A.S. programs, these two campuses also offer non-credit courses in adult basic education, adult high school, vocational education and general interest for which a certificate of completion is given and continuing education units are awarded. A Small Business Assistance Center is located at the Pittsboro campus.

Campuses

Main campus

Central Carolina Community College's main campus is located on a 41 acre site on Kelly Drive off Nash Street near U.S. Route 421 (east), Sanford, North Carolina, and has convert|177000|sqft|m2|-2 of class room, shop, and laboratory space.

Lee County campus

The convert|36000|sqft|m2|-2|sing=on Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center is a part of and is located on Central Carolina Community College's Lee County Campus. The facility is composed of:
* A large multi-purpose auditorium with a stage (which can be divided into four smaller meeting areas)
* A 200-fixed seat capacity auditorium with an elevated floor and a stage
* Four conference/classrooms. This facility is available for use by the College and the community, and it also houses the Small Business Assistance Center.

Harnett County Campus

Central Carolina Community College's Harnett County Campus is located on U.S. Route 421 (East) between Lillington and Buies Creek. This campus has convert|38000|sqft|m2|-2 of floor space that includes classrooms, machinist, medical assistant, electronic, practical nursing, science, cosmetology and laser laboratories plus a full-service Learning Resource Center. Full-time counseling services are available. A second site located in Dunn provides space for classes and serves as a small business incubator and Small Business Assistance Center.

Chatham County Campus

Central Carolina Community College's Chatham County Campus has convert|45000|sqft|m2|-2 of floor space that includes classrooms, shops, laboratories and a full-service Learning Resource Center at the intersection of N.C. 87 and 64 in Pittsboro. The Siler City branch campus is located at 502 West Third Street in Siler City in a convert|14000|sqft|m2|-2|sing=on facility.
