Rick Leventhal

Rick Leventhal (born December 1, 1959) has been a New York-based correspondent for Fox News Channel since June 1997. He joined Fox News Channel in March 1997 as a freelance reporter in the network's Chicago bureau. Leventhal is a 1986 graduate of American University in Washington, DC, with B.A. in broadcast journalism.

Leventhal was the Fox News correspondent on the ground during the attacks 1st & 2nd World Trade Center in New York City on September 11, 2001. He has also reported from Afghanistan during the American invasion of Afghanistan in 2001. In 2003, he was embedded with the marines in Iraq and Leventhal spent nine weeks in Kuwait and Iraq to cover the American invasion in Iraq. In April 2005, he went to Italy to cover the death of Pope John Paul II. In June 2005, he reported from Aruba on the Natalee Holloway disappearance. He reported on Hurricane Katrina and Rita in 2005. in July 2006, he went in Kiryat Shmona, Israel to cover the 2006 Lebanon War.in June 21 2007, He went in Canton, Ohio to cover the disappearance of 9 month pregnant Jessie Davis. in beetween July 5 and July 7, 2007, Leventhal went in London to cover the 2007 London car bombs and 2007 Glasgow International Airport attack. in July 30 and July 31, 2007 he went in Ocean City, Maryland to cover the Christy Freeman story. in August 2007, Leventhal went in Minneapolis to cover the Minneapolis Bridge Collapse.in December 7, 2007, he went in Omaha to cover the Westroads Mall shooting, then in December 18, 2007 he is the first journalist to report from MV-22 Osprey helicopter over Iraq. In March 2008, he revisited Marines in Virginia.

Early career

Leventhal began his career at WOLO-TV in Columbia, South Carolina. Prior to FNC, Leventhal reported for WNBC-TV in New York City, The civil trial of subway vigilante Bernard Goetz, covering the crash of TWA Flight 800. He received an Emmy nomination for his coverage of the death of abused girl named Elisa Izquierdo. Leventhal served as the reporter/substitute anchor for WFLD-TV in Chicago. When he was the lead reporter on the nightly newscast, covering the O.J. Simpson trial, 1993 Mississippi floods. He spent four years in reporting and substitute anchoring for WSVN-TV. He covered the William Kennedy Smith trial and Hurricane Andrew. he was also a reporter for WPTV-TV covering stories including the Miami Riots and Hurricane Hugo in Charleston, South Carolina.
