Before entering politics, Teddy Bridges received his law degree from the University of Southern California and joined a private practice in Santa Barbara, California. He was elected Governor of California at the age of 31, serving as governor for 16 years before being elected Vice-President after Dick Cheney refused to run for a second term.

After serving as Vice President under George W. Bush for four years, he ran for President on the Republican ticket with former Congresswoman Mackenzie Allen as his running mate. In the 2008 Presidential Election, Mackenzie Allen became the first female Vice President in U.S. History.

13 months after being sworn in as President, Bridges suffered a bleeding aneurysm in his brain that caused a massive stroke. Originally his prognosis was that he would live, but need over a year of extensive therapy, leading to the conclusion by all that he should resign (something he vowed not to do until Allen did). However, massive bleeding into his brain led to his hasty death. As a result, his Vice President, Mackenzie Allen, became president despite his final wish for her to step down to allow Nathan Templeton to take the oath instead.

Bridges left behind his wife, Grace, and his young son Tommy. He was buried with full military honors in Santa Barbara, California.
