Yelle was drafted in the 8th round (186th overall) in the
1992 NHL Entry Draft by theNew Jersey Devils . On June 1, 1994, he was traded to theQuebec Nordiques , who became theColorado Avalanche before he had a chance to play for them inQuebec . Known as an excellentfaceoff taker and a gritty, hard-working player, Yelle played for the Avalanche from 1995 to 2002, winning twoStanley Cup s, in 1996 and 2001. He's also known for his versatility, playing as a defenceman on the Calgary Flames when many defensemen were out injured. Yelle excelled as a shot blocker and checking specialist with the defensive minded Calgary Flames.On September 3, 2008, the
