Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport or La Mesa International Airport Airport codes|SAP|MHLM is located 11 km from the city of San Pedro Sula, Honduras. The Ramón Villeda Morales is the major and busiest airport in Honduras, handling about 600,000 passengers in 2007. The airport also handles about 150 flights internationally and domestically. The airport is an excellent port of entry into the country of Honduras because of its convenient connections to tourist attractions such as the Mayan Ruins of Copan, the vibrant nightlife of La Ceiba, and the Caribbean beaches of Roatan and Tela. Many travelers prefer to land in San Pedro Sula instead of Tegucigalpa's Toncontin International Airport due to the better approach and smoother arrival. A new terminal is expected to be completed by 2015, in line with the airport expansion program launched by InterAirports. More recently, InterAirports seems to be under fire because of their ignorance to the airport's infrastructure. Many private companies have tried to take over the management of the airport. Since 2000 no large constructions have occurred at the airport. Until October 2007, the airport is undergoing expansion. This expansion includes the addition of check-in desks, as well as the construction of electrical stairs leading to the departures area.

The airport is named after Ramón Villeda Morales, who served as President of Honduras from 1957 to 1963.
