He has served as Stevie Wonder’s musical director for the last thirty years.
He has also done session work for several other artists, including The Jacksons, whom he played bass for on their Destiny and Triumph albums. Watts's favorite basslines are "I Wish", "As", "Do I Do" and "I Ain't Gonna Stand For It".[1] He won the International Bassist Award (IBA) on January 17th, 2010.[2]
