Vehicle beacon lights in India

Vehicles in India are usually topped with three coloured beacon lights: red, amber, and blue.

The usage of these lights is governed by rule #180 of the Central Vehicle Motor Rules, 1989 [http://morth.nic.in/cmvr.htm] . The list of people entitled to the colours is detailed by the Central government and the state government.

The following list is for the state of Maharashtra.

Red

* State governor
* All ministers including the Chief Minister
* Chief Justice of the High Court
* Presiding officers of the state legislature
* RBI governor
* Chief Secretary
* Secretary to the Chief Minister
* Director General of Police
* City Police Commissioners
* Armed Forces Officers of rank Brigadier General (or equivalent) and above. Colonels who command regiments are also eligible.
* Advocate Generals
* Additional chief-secretary
* BMC commissioner
* Additional commissioners
* Lokayukta and Up-Lokayupta
