- Hatschek's pit
In the
lancelet Hatschek's pit, also called Hatschek’s nephridium, is an unpairedkidney whose duct opens into the anteriorpharynx . It can be seen as a deepciliated fossa on the dorsal midline of thebuccal cavity (mouth). Among other things, it secretsmucus which entraps food particles from the water.
