Is This Goodbye, Charlie Brown?
- Is This Goodbye, Charlie Brown?
"Is This Goodbye, Charlie Brown?" is one of many prime-time animated TV specials based upon the popular comic strip "Peanuts," by Charles M. Schulz. It was originally aired on the CBS network in 1983.
Linus and Lucy find out that their father has been transferred to a job in another city, and that they must move. Everybody is upset about losing their friends, especially Sally Brown, who is losing her "sweet babboo." Happily, they return at the end of the episode because Mr. van Pelt did not like his new job. This is taken directly from a storyline in the comic strip in 1966, in which they appear to be written out of the comic, but return after a few days.
Canadian politics
In 1985, a 63-year-old lady from Ottawa, Solange Denis, shouted at then Canadian prime minister, Brian Mulroney during a protest by seniors of the Conservative government's intentions to modify pensions, after having being elected with the promise not to do so. "Yo, Brian, you made promises that you wouldn't touch anything…you lied to us. I was made to vote for you but now, it's Goodbye Charlie Brown" [ [http://www.civilization.ca/hist/pensions/cpp-a68-ip_e.html Civilization.ca - The History of Canada's Public Pensions] ] . The prime minister ultimately backed down on the proposal.
