Pantelimon, Bucharest

Pantelimon is a neighborhood located in the north-eastern part of Bucharest, Romania, in Sector 2. Outside Bucharest, there is an adjacent town named Pantelimon, administered separately.

The Pantelimon district is named after Saint Pantaleon (Pantelimon in Romanian), and hosts the Lia Manoliu Stadium, the largest football stadium in Romania. Pantelimon Avenue is the backbone of the district.

The biggest hyper-market from Romania, "Cora" is situated in this neighborhood.Fact|date=April 2008 Lately lots of car showrooms (Renault & Dacia, Peugeot, Skoda, Fiat) have been built in the east side of the district.

A famous area of the district is "Capătu' lui 14" (or "Capu' lui 14", literally "the terminus of (tram) line 14"), which is situated in the east side of the neighborhood.

Pantelimon is also famous in Romania because of the hip-hop band B.U.G. Mafia. As children, the members of the band lived on Pantelimon Alley and Socului, near "Capătu' lui 14".Fact|date=April 2008

The neighborhood is also famous for "Spitalul de recuperare a forţei de muncă" (the Hospital for Workers' Recovery), which in the past served as a mental hospital under the name of "Spitalul Mărcuţa". It is said that Mihai Eminescu was a patient of this hospital.Fact|date=April 2008

The subway stations that serve this district are: The Pantelimon metro station and the Republica metro station.
