Reading and Leeds Festivals are a pair of annualmusic festival s that take place in Reading andLeeds inEngland . The events both happen on thebank holiday weekend in August (on Friday, Saturday, Sunday), and share the same bill (occasionally with one or two exceptions). *ThePigeon Detectives appeared on the Dance To The Radio Stage (an alias for the BBC Introducing Stage in reference to their label) on Thursday 21st at the Leeds Site. This carries on the tradition of bands originating from Leeds making surprise appearances at the festival after theKaiser Chiefs had done the previous year [http://www.nme.com/news/the-pigeon-detectives/39083] .
*Slipknot pulled out of the festival after drummerJoey Jordison broke his ankle [http://www.nme.com/news/slipknot/39090] . As this meantFeeder played in their slot instead, frontmanGrant Nicholas dedicated "Buck Rogers" to Slipknot fans in the audience.
*Avenged Sevenfold 's set, was also supposed to be performed at Reading, but at the Leeds leg the band stopped after four songs at Leeds due to singer M. Shadows having a vocal strain, the band then pulled out of playing at Reading as M Shadows was told to rest his vocal chords by a doctor. This also seen a mix-up in the running order during the days bands, and starting times being delayed by 15-30 minutes. The mix-up meant the running order did not reflect the popularity the acts had with the festival goers, and time was also filled when the timetable was being re-planned by playing music over the PA system.
*Also a number of Nirvana covers were made including Territorial Pissings by Pennywise; In Bloom by Dirty Pretty Things; Breed by Feeder; and "Pennyroyal Tea " by Manic Street Preachers.2007
