William Turner Dannat

William Turner Dannat (1853 -1929) was an American artist. Born in New York City, he was a pupil of the Royal Academy of Munich and of Mihaly Munkacsy, and became an accomplished draughtsman and a distinguished figure and portrait painter. He early attracted attention with sketches and pictures made in Spain, and a large composition, The Quartette, now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, was one of the successes of the Paris Salon of 1884. Dannat settled in Paris.
