The Charity Commission for England and Wales (Welsh: "Comisiwn Elusennau Cymru a Lloegr") is the
non-ministerial government department that regulates registered charities inEngland and Wales .The Charity Commission answers directly to the UK Parliament and not to Government ministers, and as a result it is often described as a
Quango . Scotland are regulated by theOffice of the Scottish Charity Regulator and inNorthern Ireland are regulated by theVoluntary and Community Unit of theDepartment for Social Development , part of theNorthern Ireland Executive .A charity that is not subject to registration with the Charity Commission is termed an
