List of Asturian monarchs

List of Asturian monarchs

This is a list of the rulers of the Kingdom of Asturias. While their existence and dates seem plausible, further verifiable details about their reigns are often scarce, especially for the early ones.

*Pelayo (718737)
*Favila (737739), also spelled "Favilac" or "Fáfila"
*Alfonso I (739757), called "the Catholic"
*Fruela I (757768), also spelled "Froila", called "the Cruel"
*Aurelius (768774)
*Silo (774783)
*Mauregatus the Usurper (783788)

*Alfonso II (791842), called "the Chaste"
*Nepocian (842), an usurper
*Ramiro I (842850)

During the reign of Ordoño I, the kingdom of Asturias progressively came to be known as the kingdom of León. The kingdom was split in 910 and Fruela received the part which kept the name of Asturias.

*Alfonso III (866910), called "the Great"
*Fruela II (910925), called "the Cruel", king of León and Galicia from 924

For the later kings, see the list of Leonese monarchs and the list of Galician monarchs.
