Bob Devin Jones (1954 - )is an American
playwright , director, andactor . He is the author of the plays "Uncle Bends: A Home-Cooked Negro Narrative" and "Black Witness: James Baldwin". He has also written and performed a solo tribute to poetLangston Hughes .His plays have been performed at regional theaters across the United States and in
Ireland . As a writer, Jones has worked in association with theLos Angeles New Works Festival and theSacramento Theatre Company . He was an artistic associate of the latter company for several years in the 1990s and was featured there in many roles as an actor. He has also directed plays for that company inSacramento, California and for other theaters including theAmerican Stage inSt. Petersburg, Florida andAmerican Hellenic Theatre inAthens, Greece .Jones, who grew up in Southern California, trained at
Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, theAmerican Conservatory Theater inSan Francisco , and theRoyal Academy of Dramatic Art inLondon . Jones lives inSt. Petersburg, Florida where he is the co-artistic director of The Studio@620. He spends much of his time traveling around the state of Florida working for The Florida Humanities Council.
