Millicevic attended secondary school at
St Bede's College (Mentone) . He began his professional career withMelbourne Knights inAustralia playing one game before moving to Perth Glory in 1999, where he played a major role in getting theWestern Australia n side to its first everNSL Grand Final in 2000. He then moved toEurope and went on to play forFC Zurich ,FC Basel ,FC Thun andBSC Young Boys inSwitzerland .In the 2005-06 season, Miličević played five matches in the group stage of the
UEFA Champions League forFC Thun against teams such asArsenal F.C. andAFC Ajax .On
February 20 ,2007 it was announced that Miličević had signed for the reigningA-League championsMelbourne Victory . Miličević had been courted by a number ofEnglish Premier League clubs, including Premiership teamsArsenal FC andNewcastle United before committing to his hometown club, as he was unable to gain aUK work permit.He split with Melbourne Victory on Friday the 22nd of February 2008 by "mutual consent".International career
He was the captain of both the Australia Under-20 and Under-23 side, the Olyroos, After being made captain he went to the U-20 World Cup in Argentina in 2001 and attracted the attention of major club scouts but suffered a serious knee injury during the tournament. This did not stop overseas interest and he soon moved to Switzerland, and, during the next 5 years played with clubs such as FC Zurich, FC Basle, FC Thun and Young Boys.
It was during the period from 2003-2006 with FC Thun that Ljubo played some of his best football, leading the club as captain through to the group stages of the 2005/06 UEFA Champions League.
He has also been capped for Australia, His senior debut was against Indonesia in 2005. He made three appearances at the 2005 Confederations Cup but was not selected in the 2006 World Cup squad.
