A Cantonese-ism is a usage feature or
lexeme (word) found in any non-Cantonese language that is derived from or influenced by Cantonese. Such influences can be found in Mandarin with Cantonese expressions or syntax, English with Cantonese expressions ofsyntax , or other languages. Cantonese-isms are typical inHong Kong English , as Cantonese is the native language of much of Hong Kong's population.Examples
* Taxi: 計程車 (Mandarin) --> 的士 (Cantonese); Ride a taxi: 坐計程車 (Mandarin) --> 打的 (Mandarin in Mainland China being influenced by Cantonese)
