- CoroBot
The CoroBot is a small (approx. 20 pound)
mobile robot made byCoroWare , Inc. This 4 wheeledrobot has an on board mini-ITX computer and an optional 4DOF arm. Out of the box, the robot does not have any autonomous behavior, instead, it comes with two optional operating systems: Windows XP withMicrosoft Robotics Studio , or Linux with Player Stage. It is then up to the user to add additional capabilities to the robot.Built from mostly off-the-shelf components, the platform carries a web-cam , two Sharp
IR distance sensors, a wireless Ethernet card, and miscellaneous other sensors. These allow the robot to be easily teleoperated. The robot is primarily marketed towards research institutions and hobbyists. The first CoroBot was developed for
Robonexus 2004 and was based onWindows XP Professional. "CoroBot" was later renamed CoroWare Surveyor, and is being used atVassar College for cognitive sciences research. In May 2007, CoroWare relaunched [http://www.corobot.net CoroBot] as the first product line of mobile robotic platforms from the company's Robotics and Automation group [cite web|url=http://www.prweb.com/releases/2007/5/prweb526448.htm|publisher=PR Web|title=CoroWare Introduces CoroBot|accessdate=2007-11-07] .
