Lougheed Town Centre (sometimes abbreviated as Lougheed Station) is a Skytrain station in Burnaby, British Columbia.

Location

Lougheed Town Centre Station is located on an elevated portion of the Millennium Line. The station is a part of Greater Vancouver's SkyTrain rapid transit system.

The station is located on Lougheed Highway and Austin Road (the station actually straddles Austin) in Burnaby, British Columbia, and is directly adjacent to Lougheed Town Centre, a mid-size shopping mall, with stores like The Bay, Wal-Mart, Safeway and London Drugs.

A large Korea Town exists in the area surrounding North Road south of the Lougheed Highway.

This station will be interchanged with the future western terminus of the Evergreen Line to be built and opened in 2014.

ervices

The station is located near Lougheed Town Centre, the largest shopping centre in North Burnaby. There is also a bus loop with routes including the 97 B-Line.

Trivia

*There is a roughed-in third platform on the westbound side of the track which remains unbuilt. It was constructed when a third SkyTrain line was planned. However, the Provincial government of the day cancelled the proposed extension to Coquitlam using Skytrain technology and TransLink subsequently decided to use light rail trams instead of conventional SkyTrain technology. While it seemed as late as 2007 that this platform, and the adjacent switches, would never be used, in 2008 it was announced that the Evergreen line is now again planned to use Skytrain or Skytrain-like ALRT technology. So it would appear as of early 2008 that the Evergreen line will interface with the Millennium Line at this point when it is built.
