Aptakisic Junior High School is located on Weiland Road in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. It feeds into Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Illinois and the school's main goal is to prepare the students for future success in a global economy undergoing rapid change. The Volleyball teams won the championship 2 years in a row. THey went undefeated in 2008 and won the championship.
The school's colors are red and white, and the mascot is the Indian.The school runs sports programs and education programs; The soccer team was undefeated in 2007. The facility operates as the chief middle school of School District 102, and houses the seventh and eighth grades; Meridian Middle School, also located in Buffalo Grove, feeds into it. Children who live in Prairie View, Deerfield, and Buffalo Grove, Illinois attend the school.
The school was built in the 1970s after the orginial Aptakisic-Tripp School was torn down. It served grades K-8, until 1979 when the Pritchett school was built. By the late 1990s the school began only serving kids of grades 7 and 8, once the Tripp School was built.
The school was thrust into statewide attention when a seventh grader stabbed a classmate after an online argument; the seventh grader was later expelled from the school.
