Emil "Pup" Pupulidy (1908 in

Since his birth Pupulidy had a difficult life. When he was only four years old his father committed suicide. Shortly after his father's death his mother moved the family to America and forced Emil to drop out of school. He worked until he was 16 to support his mother and two sisters.
Military service
When he was in his thirties, Pupulidy fought in
World War II . He worked on repairing bridges and was one of the first troops inAuschwitz after the Nazis had been defeated.Racing
After he returned from World War II Pupulidy became very interested in building and racing cars. In 1958 he won the Europa-Berg-Meister race in the Gran-Turismo-Meister 1600 in a Porsche which he had built. Around that time he also traveled all around Europe and Africa in a Volkswagen van with three other men.
Family life
Once in his late forties he started a
stained glass company and married one of his employees, Doris Pupulidy, who was in her thirties and had a daughter from a previous marriage named Leslie. Together Emil and Doris settled in Long Island and had a child named Susan.When they retired they moved to Florida, where Pupulidy died in 1996.
