- The Linux Router Project
The Linux Router Project (LRP) is an open-source software project. It has been defunct since
June 22 ,2003 , according to a posting by its chief developer, Dave Cinege. For most users, it has been supplanted by its main fork, theLEAF Project .LRP began as a Linux floppydistro. Using hardware that would be generally considered too old or slow for desktop use, this project allows the creation of powerful
router functionality from read-only media that can easily be rebooted should its veracity be in doubt. The original distribution was based onDebian .Although this project has ended, the ideas and work still continue with the "Open WRT" project which gives new firmware to most of the routers.
