Anthony Caig (born April 11, 1974 in Cleator Moor, Cumbria) is an English football goalkeeper who is currently playing with Houston Dynamo of Major League Soccer.

Professional career

Caig made his name playing for Carlisle United from 1992 to 1998, the highlight of this time being the penalty saves in the LDV Vans Trophy at Wembley against Colchester in 1997. However, the following year he was controversially allowed to leave by club owner Michael Knighton for a £5,000 fee just before the mid-season transfer deadline. This move eventually led to the signing of Jimmy Glass.

After three years without a start for Newcastle United of the FA Premier League, Caig signed with the USL First Division Vancouver Whitecaps on April 13, 2006. With the Whitecaps he won the USL First Division Championship, beating the Rochester Raging Rhinos by a score of 2-0. Also he recorded 11 clean sheets which he broke Mike Franks record of 10 clean sheets in 2003.

On June 20, 2007, the Whitecaps announced that Caig would be returning to England for personal reasons despite having signed with the Whitecaps through the end of the season.Return] Caig played a total of 39 games for the Whitecaps. Caig signed on amateur terms for Gretna of the Scottish Premier League during October 2007 after a long running transfer saga.

He then moved to Houston Dynamo in January 2008, where he was to serve as the backup to Pat Onstad. Caig made his Dynamo debut on April 6 2008 as a substitute after Onstad was injured. He conceded three goals and made three second-half saves in a 3-3 draw against FC Dallas. Due to Onstad's injury, he played again on April 9 2008 in the CONCACAF Champions' Cup semifinal 2nd leg against Deportivo Saprissa. Caig conceded three goals again, including a deflected shot from Armando Alonso.Fact|date=April 2008
