- PBGA479
-
PBGA479 is a mobile CPU package type used by several architectures of Intel CPUs.[1] The package type is specific to CPUs that do not use a socket but are instead soldered to the motherboard (see ball grid array).
PGA (pin grid array) refers to a socketed type CPU, but not a specific socket. This causes some confusion as Intel only lists the package type and not compatible sockets on their website. Package type does not denote pin compatibility. It should be noted that every CPU can be manufactured in PBGA or PPGA, however PBGA479 seems to refer only to CPUs that were manufactured in both PGA and BGA package types.
