The Disney Portal
The Walt Disney Company is one of the largest media and entertainment corporations in the world. Founded on October 16, 1923 by brothers Walt and Roy Disney as a small animation studio in their grandfather's garage, it became one of the biggest Hollywood studios and several television networks, including the American Broadcasting Company (ABC).
At this time, Disney have produced well over 100 films through their studios and also under the label of other studios such as Touchstone Pictures and Hollywood Pictures. Many of these are critically acclaimed and very popular, including classic animated movies such as Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King. More recently they have founded websites such as Go.com; and also television channels such as the Disney Channel.
In addition to their televisual success, numerous theme parks have been opened, not only in America, but also in Japan, France, and China. These include Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland Park among others. The Walt Disney Company currently owns interest in eleven theme parks world wide.
