Vision

Our vision is to make Chinese, Japanese and Korean students mutually understand deeply, acquire global perspective and contribute to the progress of East Asia as its leaders. (The OVAL Charter #3)

History

WAAV Association for Japanese undergraduates is a famous organization between universities for over ten years. Its special activity—King, in which a team of six students should complete a business proposal in seven days was the predecessor of OVAL.

In September 2004, a group of Japanese students realized that this type of contest could create opportunities for Asian students to communicate, for the contest requires participants to cooperate. The essential of the contest is communication, and there is no doubt that the International Business Contest for Students is the best choice.

With the help of a professor who teaches in both Tokyo University and Beijing University, the Japanese students connected Zhu Hui who studied in Beijing University. The case in Korea was similar. With the unremitting hardworking of students in three countries and insistence of the same belief and dream, the activity—King developed into an international contest-----OVAL.

The early inspiration of OVAL came from the idea that it was an oval when linking the three countries on the map. After the first contest, a Chinese participant expounded “OVAL” as “Our Vision for Asian Leadership”. This explanation became the official definition which was validated by the three countries.
