Organization of Kaulas

Kaula is a Tantrik tradition of Hinduism. It is a Culture and rich tradition of Sanatana Culture of Vedic way of life. Almost all Royal Families of Kerala (including Noble, elite, Royal clans) of Kerala were Kaulas, as they performed Tamasa Pooja. Malayala Kshatriya and Samantha Kshatriya Families in Kerala once used the Powerful Tantrik methods for acquiring wealth, glory and victory to their families and kingdom. Kaula has its roots from Kashmir, Kashmir Shaivism,although having numerous regional variations like, Kapalika, Kaul, Kaula, Madhyama (Kerala School) etc.

The Organization stands for the unification and association of all Kaulas of the World, Head Quarted at Kerala State of Union Republic Government Territory of India. It also stands and understands Samaya Tantra, Mishra Tantra and its variations. Temples of Kerala State of India like Kodungallur Bhagavathy Temple, Valayanad, Nedemel, Kaliam velli, Kollam Bhishari kavu and Mookambika Temple of Karnataka state of India is following this tradition of Kerala School of Tantra (Kaula).

History of Kaulas

Kaulas have a long history since Paleolithic age, and as carbon-dated to approximately 20,000 BCE, since the arrival of Female Deity. Thousands of female statuettes dated as early as c. 5500 BCE have been recovered at Mehrgarh, one of the most important Neolithic sites in world archaeology. Through centuries of Shaktism tradition, Kaulas have grown as a strong sect all over India and abroad.

Relationship with Shaktism

Introduction of Shaktism Shaktism is a denomination of Hinduism that focuses worship upon Shakti or Devi – the Hindu Divine Mother – as the absolute, ultimate Godhead. It is, along with Shaivism and Vaisnavism, one of the three primary schools of Hinduism.

Kerala School of Kaula

In Kerala State of India, we have presently two types of traditions.

  • Uthamam
  • Madhyamam

Uthamam

(Practicing Kali in the form of Shree or Principal deities of Bhadra Kali Shree form (Bhadra Kali in its Satvika / non- Fierce form)

Practicing "Shree" bija / Shree as the form of Kali (Taking Durga form of Devi Kali as Principal Deity and its variations). Known as "Samaya" tradition (opposing Kaula System). Namboothiri Brahmins of Kerala are popular in this field. Most of the Temple deities called 'Bhadra Kali', and 'Durga' from are worshiped in this system.

Madhyamam

(Practicing Kali in the form of Tantrik Deities (at ites extreme Fierce form)

Text : Based on Kularnava Tantra (Tantrik Book) – Maha Nirvahana Tantra

Practicing "Hreem" bija/ Hreem – Shreem – Kreem – Soum -as its Prim Form (Tantric deities). Moossad or Mootheth Brahmin of Kerala, Adikal Brahmins, Pidathiri and Nairs of Kerala as well as Hegde and Adiga Brahmin of Karnataka at Mookambika Devi Temple of Kollur follows this System.

Organization of Kaulas

Organization structure

The Orgaznization is headed by 5 member Council known as "Kaula Kshthra Mandalam". The apex body is the controlling and Governing council for all activities undertaking under Kaulas. The organization is now forming a Joint Trust for preserving the Tantrik values among temples and Kaula Families.

Grass root level public programs are also in planning.
