Tanja Poutiainen (born
6 April 1980 inRovaniemi ) is a Finnish alpine skier who won the silver medal at the2006 Winter Olympics women'sgiant slalom race.In, 1997 Poutiainen became junior world champion in the slalom as well being listed 3rd in the Super-G, and the same year debuted in the
Alpine skiing World Cup . At the 1999 Junior World Championships, she placed third in the giant slalom skiing competition. She placed second in the Super-G at the World Cup inSestriere , becoming the first Finn to take the winner's podium. At the 2002 World Cup in Levi, Finland she won the slalom competition.In the 2004/2005 season, she won both the slalom and giant slalom World Cup titles. At the
Alpine World Ski Championships 2005 she placed second in the giant slalom behind SwedeAnja Pärson and second in the slalom behindCroatia nJanica Kostelić .Poutiainen is currently being trained by Michael Bont and lives in
