Onyaanya Constituency in the Oshikoto Region

Onyaanya Constituency is an electoral constituency in the Oshikoto Region of Namibia. It has 13,474 inhabitants;^[1] its district capital is the settlement of Onyaanya.

Onyaanya is an erectoral constituency in Oshikoto region, it is at the center of the region. It has about more than ten thousand inhabitat, and people mainly depend on agriculture and farming. High unemloyed is one of the problem facing people in that village. Development of schools and health facility are at the slow pace. There are only one secondary and 5 primary school.Many people are still travelling long distance to leach hospitals and clinics and in a long run many inhabitat lost their lives because of long distance to get medical treatment. Under the readership of Mr. Henock Kankoshi, he managed to get water and electricity closer to the people.

Onyaanya constituencies was the center of the battle between the excombant PLAN fighters and South African KOFOET. A place called Osipita is where the KOFOET had been settled for more than 30 years. Many people were killed by the KOFOET, hanged, cut in pieces and baried inhabitat alive. People who were in the surrounding area were captured,tortured and many of them joined the KOFOET by force.In 1989 when all Namibian came back from exile, the KOFOET took all their belongings and left to South Africa. The Osipita shortly independence, was turned into development projects for the people in the constituency to benefit. Many projects were established under the leadership of the first council Mr. Vilho Kamanya who served more than ten years. Today osipita also known okatope (name can be corrected)is a place where everyone is welcomed to visit and travel in and around.

Constructions of roads to join to another constituency are in a pipeline. Building of additional schools and hospitals are also planned as well as entertainments for the youth. A lot of development still have to be done as we will be approaching vision 2030. So far there are four projects have been set up and are still going well. These projects are under the Ministry of Agriculture, water and forestry and have benefited some people in the area even though not all of them.The people are producing mainly fruits and vegetables which they sell to the locals and earned money to pay for their utilities and salaries.

Apart from what people are getting from the projects they also have some means of selling other products from the fields. Mahangu is a main source of income in the constituency after harvesting. So Onyaanya constituency is developing in the line with other constituency.
