The October 2011 Jabal al-Zawiya clashes were a series of battles, which culminated on October 5th, 2011, between the Syrian Army and deserting soldiers (or possibly opposition militants), in which five militants (or deserted soldiers) and seven regular Syrian soldiers were killed.^[1]

Several days before, fierce fighting between Syrian regular troops and opposition militias raged for control of the city of Rastan.^[3]

It was also reported four people were killed the same week in the region in clashes between Syrian Army and deserters.^[2]
