It lies in the Slovenske Gorice hills in the valley of the Drvanja stream. The area was part of the traditional region of Lower Styria. It is now included in the Drava statistical region.[2]
Traces of Roman period buildings and a burial ground with burial mounds have been identified near the settlement.[3]
